Human Rights Commission Standing Member: "If Yoon is Impeached, the Constitutional Court Should Be Smashed and Abolished"
"Impeachment Against the Will of the People?
The Constitutional Court Must Be Abolished"
Kim Yong-won, a standing commissioner of the National Human Rights Commission of Korea (NHRCK), announced that he would provide free legal defense to Korean history instructor Jeon Han-gil, who has been accused of inciting rebellion. He also stated that if the Constitutional Court accepts the impeachment of President Yoon Seok-yeol, the people should destroy it completely.

Earlier, the civic group Judicial Justice Restoration Civic Action (Sasaehaeng) filed a complaint against Jeon on charges of inciting rebellion and other offenses. Sasaehaeng claimed, "Jeon has repeatedly engaged in unjust attacks against some Constitutional Court justices and denied the impeachment trial itself, thereby justifying public disobedience and invasion and violence against the Constitutional Court if President Yoon’s impeachment is accepted." On the 1st, at a rally opposing President Yoon Seok-yeol’s impeachment held in Busan, Jeon stated, "The people will not accept the judgment of unjust justices. The people will sweep away the Constitutional Court."
He said, "In fact, there is no need for a lawyer, and even if the police call, there is no need to go, because Mr. Han-gil has never done anything criminal. However, if the police call, it is better to go. If you do not go, the police will surely go wild threatening to arrest Mr. Han-gil."
He added, "A few days ago, I was also accused by a professional accuser, and from the Democratic Party, which specializes in accusations, I was accused of inciting rebellion, so we are in the same boat."
Commissioner Kim also raised his voice regarding the Constitutional Court’s impeachment trial of President Yoon, calling it a "national deception." He criticized, "The Constitutional Court says it is conducting the presidential impeachment trial, holding two hearings a week and summoning three witnesses a day for investigation. This is neither a trial nor anything else; it is completely insane."

But now, during the presidential trial, they summon three witnesses a day, every other day, continuously. The Constitutional Court has become a cheap political service company subcontracted by the opposition party for presidential impeachment, staging a national deception under the name of a trial."

Commissioner Kim emphasized, "The sovereign of the Republic of Korea is the people. If the Constitutional Court impeaches the president against the will of the sovereign people, the people must smash the Constitutional Court to pieces and erase all traces of it."
