View original imageThe Gwangju Community Chest of Korea (Gwangju Sarangui Yeolmae) announced on the 22nd that the Honam News Headquarters of Asia Economy delivered a donation of 10 million KRW through the Hope 2025 Sharing Campaign to help vulnerable groups and neighbors in need in the Gwangju area have a warm winter ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday.
The donation ceremonies were held at the five district offices?Dong-gu on the 13th, Gwangsan-gu on the 14th, Nam-gu on the 16th, Buk-gu on the 20th, and Seo-gu on the 22nd. The events were attended by Oh Geumtaek, CEO of the Honam News Headquarters of Asia Economy, Kim Wookwan, the head of the headquarters, the mayors of the five Gwangju districts, Park Heungcheol, Secretary-General of Gwangju Sarangui Yeolmae, and other officials.
The donated funds will be used through the five Gwangju district offices to support vulnerable groups and improve welfare at local social welfare facilities during the Lunar New Year holiday.
Oh Geumtaek stated, "Despite the ongoing social and economic difficulties, we decided to make this donation, albeit a small amount, to help the marginalized in our community. I hope this act of giving will have a positive influence and encourage many others to join in donating."
Park Heungcheol, Secretary-General of the Gwangju Community Chest of Korea, said, "Due to the '12.3 Martial Law Incident,' the political turmoil from impeachment, and the Jeju Air disaster, the economy is struggling and donations have decreased. We are truly grateful for this prompt donation, which gives us great strength. We will ensure that the funds are well delivered so that vulnerable groups and social welfare facilities in the region can have a warm Lunar New Year holiday."
Meanwhile, Oh Geumtaek has been making annual donations to the five district offices since 2018 to realize the value of sharing in the local community and to improve the welfare of vulnerable groups.
