Dongmyung University’s K-Doing Heats Up in Midwinter... From K-Taekwondo to Equestrian Sports
The spirit of fresh challenge, experience, and action at Dongmyung University in Busan, which is emerging as a prestigious sports institution, remains strong even in the middle of winter. K-Doing, aimed at the world, is spreading rapidly.
Dongmyung University, which shocked the nation by dominating collegiate soccer just 69 days after its founding, continues to operate a “Chedeokji” (physical, moral, and intellectual development) program for its students, while also inviting elementary and middle school students to its campus for a variety of experiential activities.

On January 20, the university signed an agreement with the Busan Metropolitan Office of Education to cooperate on a learning-based “Neulbom” program and a healing program for faculty and staff. This includes learning-based “Neulbom” horseback riding for elementary students and a healing horseback riding program for education office staff. The project aims to enhance physical health, healing, and learning abilities.
From January 11 to February 8, Dongmyung University is operating a “Middle School Integrated After-School Program” every Saturday for two hours on campus, offering activities such as Power-Drop Badminton, Do-ing Soccer, and introductory computer (MIDI) composition.
Elementary school students are participating in an immersive character-building English and math camp (hosted by the Busan Metropolitan Office of Education) for three weeks until January 24, which includes Taekwondo, career exploration, and outdoor activities.
The enthusiasm for “one student, one sport” among enrolled students is also strong. Activities such as Chedeokji One-Day Sports and Chedeokji Extreme Sports, which encourage bold challenges and self-reflection, have been consistently held throughout the 2024 academic year. From January 8 to 10, students attended a ski camp in Pyeongchang, Gangwon Province. Previously, starting with a hot air balloon ride in April last year, students also participated in horseback riding, the Gwangandaegyo Night Race, Gwangalli Paddleboard Experience SUP, Songjeong Beach surfing, and a bicycle tour around Jeju Island.
President Ho-Hwan Jeon emphasized, “We will make 2025 a year to lay the foundation for becoming the nation’s top small but strong university by further strengthening and expanding vibrant and exciting Doing, and by globalizing our campus.”
Dongmyung University is also enhancing its internationalization capabilities, aiming to reach 4,000 international students enrolled at its domestic and overseas campuses within the next five years. Busan International College (BIC), an English-only track international college, has achieved remarkable results within just one year of its establishment, with 604 first- and second-year students currently enrolled across five departments. As of November last year, the number of international students exceeded 1,300. In 2025, new departments in Tech Management and Cultural Design Management have been established, broadening the range of English-only majors available.
