Gwanak-gu Takes Extra Care of Neighbors in Need Ahead of Seollal Holiday
Support for Low-Income Households:
Lunar New Year Consolation Funds, Meal Delivery Service, and Heating Supplies Provided
Intensive Care System for High-Risk Groups:
Emergency Contact Network for Officials and Resident Safety Net in Operation During the Holiday to Minimize Administrative Gaps
Gwanak-gu (District Mayor Park Junhee) is focusing on thorough care for vulnerable groups to create a happy Lunar New Year holiday without any welfare blind spots.
The district plans to provide customized support and check on the well-being of vulnerable groups such as ▲elderly living alone ▲severely disabled persons ▲housing-vulnerable households ▲households at risk of isolation in preparation for the Lunar New Year holiday.
First, through the ‘Warm Winter Campaign,’ donations collected will be used to provide a total of 134 million KRW in ‘Lunar New Year holiday consolation funds’ to 3,084 vulnerable households, sharing the warmth of neighbors.
For households at risk of food insecurity, the ‘Care SOS Meal Delivery Service’ will be provided to prevent gaps in meal provision that may occur due to the closure of regular restaurants and lunchbox delivery services during the Lunar New Year holiday.
The 21 community centers in Gwanak-gu will cooperate with religious and professional organizations to inspect heating facilities in 2,300 vulnerable households and deliver heating supplies and ‘Love Sharing Lunar New Year Boxes.’
Comprehensive social welfare centers in the area will visit 1,000 households, including elderly living alone and severely disabled persons, to share Lunar New Year holiday meals and check on their well-being, preventing social isolation among vulnerable groups.
Additionally, during the Lunar New Year holiday when most hospitals and pharmacies are closed, the district plans to continuously check on residents’ well-being using the ‘resident personal safety network’ and the ‘Internet of Things (IoT) system.’
Forty-five officials from the district office and community centers will establish an emergency contact system to respond promptly in case of crisis situations in vulnerable households.
For 3,460 households at risk of social isolation, a resident personal safety network composed of ▲welfare community leaders ▲Our Neighborhood Care Group ▲local community security council members will operate, checking on residents’ well-being twice via phone calls or home visits before and after the Lunar New Year holiday.
High-risk health groups will also be matched one-on-one with the resident personal safety network to minimize administrative gaps through seamless care during the holiday period.
The ‘Smart Well-being Check Service,’ applying IoT technology such as ▲Smart Check ▲Smart Plug ▲Tongtong Line to 340 high-risk middle-aged single-person households, will maintain an emergency operation system together with the Smart Plug control center.
