"Eunpyeong-gu Youth Are Lucky"... Monthly Rent Support of 2.4 Million Won for Young People Living Alone
Up to 2.4 Million KRW for Homeless Single-Person Households Aged 19 to 39
Apply on the Eunpyeong-gu Office Website by February 13
Eunpyeong-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Kim Mi-kyung) announced on the 20th that through the ‘Eunpyeong-type Youth Monthly Rent Support Project,’ the first of its kind implemented by a Seoul autonomous district, it will provide up to 200,000 KRW per month for a maximum of 12 months, totaling 2.4 million KRW, to homeless youth.
This is a measure taken by the district to alleviate the high housing cost burden on single-person youth households. The number of beneficiaries has been expanded from the existing 65 to 70, and the support criteria have been relaxed from a previous lease deposit of 60 million KRW to 80 million KRW.
The eligible applicants are homeless single-person youth households aged 19 to 39 who are registered residents of Eunpyeong-gu as of the application date. The application period is from the 20th of this month to February 13th, and applications can be submitted online through the Eunpyeong-gu Office website.
Applicants must be homeless residents living in buildings with a lease deposit of 80 million KRW or less and monthly rent excluding maintenance fees of 600,000 KRW or less as of the announcement date, and have an income at or below 150% of the median income. However, those with assets exceeding 100 million KRW or recipients of the National Basic Livelihood Security are excluded.
Selection will be conducted by verifying eligibility requirements and detailed screening of income and rent criteria. In case of a tie, older applicants will be given priority. The results will be announced on the Eunpyeong-gu Office website in March this year, and selected youth will receive individual text messages.
Payments will be made monthly to the applicant’s account upon confirmation of advance rent payment. For more details, inquiries can be made by phone to the Youth Hope Division of Eunpyeong-gu Office or by referring to the relevant announcement on the Eunpyeong-gu Office website’s notices section.
