Hwasun County announced that the advisory was issued to raise awareness among all public officials and prevent any violations of the code of conduct or the Improper Solicitation and Graft Act, such as the acceptance of money, gifts, or entertainment, which may occur during the festive atmosphere of the holiday.
In preparation for the Lunar New Year, the county also plans to conduct a public officials’ integrity campaign in cooperation with the public servants’ labor union and to strengthen integrity promotion activities through card news and other means.
To establish public service discipline, the county will conduct special unannounced inspections before and after the holiday to check compliance with the code of conduct, work regulations, and standards of dignity, as well as crack down on passive work behaviors such as delays in handling civil complaints and permits.
Kim Seungo, Director of Planning and Audit, stated, “We actively encourage public officials to share warm sentiments with relatives and neighbors during the holiday,” adding, “However, since public officials are strictly prohibited from exchanging gifts with stakeholders, we have preemptively issued the first Integrity Advisory.”
