Muan County Launches Mask-Wearing Campaign for Flu Prevention
Masks Distributed to Over 1,000 County Residents
Infectious Disease Prevention Guidelines Provided at Traditional Markets and Other Locations
Muan County, South Jeolla Province (Governor Kim San) recently conducted a mask-wearing campaign to prevent infectious diseases at traditional markets, Muan International Airport, and senior job fair venues on the 15th, in response to the recent surge in influenza (flu) cases.
According to the county on the 17th, this campaign was organized to raise awareness as the flu has continued at its highest level since 2016 and various respiratory illnesses are increasing. Masks were distributed to about 1,000 residents, and guidelines for preventing respiratory infections were provided.

View original imageThe flu can infect those with weakened immune systems, such as the elderly, children, and people with underlying health conditions, and may progress to pneumonia, which can be fatal. Therefore, masks must be worn in crowded places.
To prevent the flu, it is important to: ▲Get vaccinated against the flu ▲Wear a mask in crowded places ▲Practice proper handwashing habits ▲Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or sleeve when coughing ▲Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands ▲Ventilate indoor spaces frequently.
Kim Seongcheol, Director of the Public Health Center, said, "As the flu continues to spread, I hope everyone will follow the quarantine guidelines and promptly visit a hospital if symptoms appear to ensure a healthy Lunar New Year holiday."
