Jiwon 15 and Yongjeon 86 to Serve Yeongnak Park

Gwangju City announced on the 17th that it will implement a "Special Transportation Plan" to provide safe and comfortable transportation services for citizens during the Lunar New Year holiday.
The city, together with the five autonomous districts, has designated January 25 to 30 as the "Lunar New Year Special Transportation Plan Period" and will operate a special transportation control center during this time.
The plan aims to provide convenient transportation for citizens and visitors to national and city cemeteries, and to strengthen traffic guidance and safety management of transportation facilities in congested areas such as Gwangju Songjeong Station, Gwangcheon Terminal, and Yeongnak Park, ensuring citizens have a safe and comfortable journey to and from their hometowns.
First, to accommodate visitors to cemeteries, city bus operations between national/city cemeteries and Gwangju General Bus Terminal will be expanded. Bus No. 518, which runs between Sangmu District, General Bus Terminal, and Yeongnak Park, will increase its operations by 30 trips on Lunar New Year’s Day (29th). Bus No. Jiwon 15, which operates between Wolnam-dong and Taeryeong, will pass through Yeongnak Park. Bus No. Yongjeon 86, which currently terminates at Hyoryeong Senior Welfare Town, will be extended to Yeongnak Park, with other city bus routes also being adjusted accordingly.
Traffic guidance activities in major congested areas will be strengthened. At key transportation hubs such as Gwangju Songjeong Station and the General Bus Terminal, as well as at Mangwol and Yeongnak Park, city and district officials, police officers, and members of the Model Drivers Association will work together to direct traffic and monitor parking and stopping.
To promote the use of traditional markets, parking enforcement around traditional markets will be relaxed from the 18th to the 30th, and parking lots at traditional markets and over 250 public institutions and public parking lots will be opened free of charge.
The traditional markets where illegal parking enforcement will be eased include 16 locations: Da-in Market, Sansu Market, and Namgwangju Market in Dong-gu; Yangdong Market and Seobu Market in Seo-gu; Mudeung Market, Bongseon Market, and Baegundaeseong Market in Nam-gu; Malbau Market, Duam Market, Unam Market, Dongbu Market, and Seobang Market in Buk-gu; and 1913 Songjeong Station Market (including Songjeong Daily Market), Songjeong 5-day Market, and Usan Daily Market in Gwangsan-gu.
However, parking enforcement will still be maintained in six prohibited areas for illegal parking and stopping: within 5 meters of fire hydrants, within 5 meters of intersections, within 10 meters of bus stops, crosswalks, children's protection zones, and sidewalks, as well as for double parking and on bus-only lanes, to ensure citizen safety and smooth traffic flow.
The locations of public parking lots open for free can be checked on Gongyu Nuri (the public resource opening and sharing integrated portal), the public data portal, Kakao Map, and Naver Map.
Bae Sangyoung, Director of Public Transportation, stated, "We will do our utmost to maintain traffic safety so that both returning visitors and citizens can enjoy a safe and comfortable holiday," and added, "We ask for your active cooperation in observing traffic laws and driving safely to ensure an accident-free and safe holiday."
