President Yoon Suk-yeol was arrested by the High-ranking Officials' Crime Investigation Agency (HCIA), and a post hinting at a terror attack on Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, appeared on a community related to the People Power Party.
Jeon Yong-gi, the Democratic Party's Public Communication Committee Chair, stated on his social media on the 16th, "It has been confirmed that a very concerning post was recently uploaded on an online community. The post contained content hinting at a terror attack targeting Leader Lee Jae-myung." He added, "Although the post was immediately deleted, the fact that such threats were spread on the internet is a terrible matter," and said, "It raises serious awareness in our society."

View original imageAccording to the content, on the day President Yoon was arrested, a post titled "Does it just end if you (omitted)?" was uploaded on the DC Inside 'People Power Party Gallery.' The author wrote, "Is this when juvenile offenders are used? (omitted) Let's just go to a juvenile detention center for two years."
Regarding this, Representative Jeon explained, "In the past, Leader Lee has faced several dangerous and extreme situations, including having a knife held to his neck," and added, "This incident can be seen as a serious challenge not only to the individual but also to social safety and order as a whole." He continued, "Democracy becomes stronger when it does not yield to violence or threats," and said, "In a national crisis, it is time to raise social awareness to prevent such threats from recurring, and for all of us to unite. Terror threats can never be justified under any circumstances."
Chair Jeon emphasized, "Considering the content mentioned in the post, it appears the author hinted at abusing juvenile offender status, so the possibility that the author is a minor cannot be excluded," and added, "We will carefully review the request to investigative agencies regarding this incident and devise measures to prevent recurrence so that such threats never happen again."

Meanwhile, the HCIA and police began executing the arrest warrant for President Yoon at around 4:20 a.m. on the 15th. About 30 People Power Party lawmakers and lawyers formed a 'human chain' to block the arrest and resisted for over an hour, but eventually, the third line of defense's iron gate was opened, and President Yoon was taken into custody. Immediately after the arrest, President Yoon boarded a security vehicle and was transported to the HCIA office at the Government Complex Gwacheon in Gwacheon, Gyeonggi Province.
