Samsung Life Insurance, Consultant Training and Development System Revamp
Samsung Life Insurance announced on the 16th that it has revamped its training and development system to strengthen consultant capabilities.
Following last year's expansion of the training period for new consultants from 2 years to 3 years, this year the focus was placed on enhancing comprehensive consulting capabilities through the 'reorganization of product training centered on health products' and the establishment of new courses on 'non-insurance products, humanities, and artificial intelligence (AI) utilization.'
The product training centered on health products was reorganized around the '6 major diseases' and the '7 major treatment journeys' to clearly understand and explain the key coverage details of the products. The 6 major diseases are cancer, brain, heart, specific diseases, senior diseases, and dementia/care, and the 7 major treatment journeys are examination-diagnosis-hospitalization-surgery-treatment-outpatient-recovery. Samsung Life consultants can recommend the most suitable products and riders for customers by clearly understanding the major diseases and their associated treatment journeys.
To meet the diverse financial needs of customers, the non-insurance product courses such as trusts and retirement pensions were strengthened. New humanities content such as economic and financial knowledge, medicine, and image making was newly organized into 30 sessions. Training that combines insurance sales with digital and AI technologies, such as the basic consulting course using generative AI in the second year and the generative AI utilization course in the third year, is expected to further enhance consultants' digital competitiveness.
This year as well, an industry-academia linked program for consultants who have achieved excellent results will continue. The 'Sungkyunkwan-Samsung' course is operated twice a year for those under 3 years who meet certain requirements. The 'Yonsei-Samsung' course is operated once a year for those with 3 or more years of experience. About 30 people are selected for each course and attend lectures by carefully selected faculty and external distinguished speakers for about 8 weeks, gaining broad knowledge across the financial sector.

A Samsung Life Insurance official said, "We have revamped the consultant training and development system with the goal of nurturing financial experts who provide optimal solutions to customers," adding, "This reorganization will be an important cornerstone for Samsung Life Insurance to advance as the 'No. 1 integrated life and non-life insurer.'"
