Renault 5 Electric Car Named Europe's Car of the Year
Renault's compact electric car Renault 5 E-Tech Electric and Alpine A290 were recently selected as the 2025 European Car of the Year at the Brussels Motor Show, Renault Korea announced on the 13th. Renault won the European Car of the Year award for electric vehicles for two consecutive years, following the Scenic E-Tech Electric a year ago.
The newly selected Renault 5 electric car is an urban B-segment electric vehicle that first applied the AmpR Small platform, a compact electric vehicle-dedicated platform developed by the Renault Group. The Renault 5, launched in 1972, sold over 5.5 million units worldwide over 25 years and is considered a representative model of Renault. The electric reinterpretation of this model, the Renault 5 E-Tech Electric, was first unveiled at last year's Geneva Motor Show.
