The Gwangju Metropolitan Office of Education is operating a customized program called "Colorful Vacation Life" for students eligible for special education and their parents.
According to the Office of Education on the 11th, this event has been prepared to support the holistic development of students, leisure activities, and to strengthen the parenting capacity of guardians. The program is targeted at 20 students and their parents who use the Special Education Support Center of the Office.
The program will run from the 13th to the 24th and will include practical sessions such as baking and pastry making, creative art, new sports, ukulele making and performance, as well as coffee classes, rattan crafts, and picture book play therapy for guardians' psychological stability and creative learning.
The Office of Education will assign special education volunteers to support students' safety, transportation, and educational activities. In addition, a satisfaction survey will be conducted during the program period to identify areas for improvement and to develop solutions.
Superintendent Lee Jungseon said, "I hope the winter vacation program will be an opportunity for new learning and growth for students and a chance for healing and parenting support for guardians," adding, "We will strive to operate special education programs where everyone can grow together."
