Naju Nampyeong to Hwasun, National Local Road Expansion and Paving Fully Opened
Jeong Jirak, Jeollanam-do Provincial Council Member:
"Efforts for Budget Support and Early Opening"
The expansion and paving project for National Route 55, a national support local road connecting Nampyeong-eup in Naju and Hwasun-eup in Hwasun County, Jeollanam-do, has been fully opened to traffic.
This project, which covered a total distance of 6.85 km from Nampyeong in Naju to Aengnam-ri in Hwasun-eup, was completed in eight years with an investment of 125.6 billion KRW. The previous road was narrow and winding, posing significant risks of accidents and traffic inconvenience, but with this expansion to four lanes, it has been transformed into a safer road.
Jeong Jirak, a member of the Jeollanam-do Provincial Council (Democratic Party of Korea, Hwasun 1), stated that he supported securing the budget and conducting safety inspections during the construction process, working to expedite the opening of the road.
Jeong said, "Since my first visit to the construction site in September 2022, I have continuously coordinated closely with Jeollanam-do and Hwasun County at key times each year to ensure the smooth progress of the road construction."
He added, "With this opening, access to Hwasun-eup, Nampyeong-eup, and Naju Innovation City will become easier, which is expected to significantly reduce logistics costs. Improved accessibility between the Innovation City and the central and southern regions of Jeollanam-do will also contribute to balanced regional development."
