Anseong City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 9th that last year’s hometown love donation fund amounted to 668.79 million KRW, which is 2.76 times the 242.28 million KRW recorded the previous year. The city added that this is the highest amount among the 31 cities and counties in Gyeonggi Province.
The hometown love donation system, implemented since 2023, allows donors to receive tax credit benefits and return gifts when donating to local governments other than their place of residence. There were 6,264 donors participating in Anseong City’s hometown love donation system, with an average donation amount of 106,768 KRW per person. Donors who gave 100,000 KRW or less, whose entire donation amount is eligible for tax credit, accounted for 91.8% of the total donations. Donors who gave 1 million KRW or more accounted for 6.6% of the total donation amount.
The city explained that it was able to achieve good results by conducting strategic fundraising activities, judging that securing funds necessary for city development as well as promoting the region would be helpful. In fact, the city focused on ▲ cooperation with NH Nonghyup Bank ▲ introduction of Gyeonggi Province’s first private platform (Wigib) ▲ monthly special events related to return gifts ▲ selection and promotion of designated donation projects.
In particular, the city increased the donation effect by selecting designated donation projects such as a morning meal support program for long-distance commuting youth and a project to support residents who suffered great damage from heavy snowfall.
