Dongdaemun-gu, Seoul (Mayor Lee Pil-hyung) announced on the 29th that it will cancel the annual "Baebongsan Sunrise Event" held at Baebongsan Neighborhood Park in mourning for the Jeju Air passenger plane accident that occurred at Muan International Airport, Jeollanam-do.
The district canceled all official events scheduled from 7:30 a.m. on January 1st, including the preliminary performance, New Year's bell-ringing ceremony, and New Year's hope prayer performance.
However, rice cake soup sharing for residents visiting Baebongsan will proceed as planned from 6 a.m., and safety personnel will be deployed to prevent safety accidents.

Lee Pil-hyung, Mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, said, "We pray for the souls of the accident victims and extend our deepest condolences to the bereaved families," and added, "We ask for the understanding of residents who were looking forward to the sunrise event."
