Expansion of the Scope of the 'Safe Inheritance One-Stop Service' and 'Heir Financial Transaction Inquiry Service'
The government is expanding the scope of the service that allows bereaved families to check whether the deceased had subscribed to funeral service products.
On the 29th, the Financial Supervisory Service, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, and the Fair Trade Commission announced that starting from the 30th, the service will be expanded to allow verification of subscription status for all funeral service products through the 'Safe Inheritance One-Stop Service' and the 'Heir Financial Transaction Inquiry Service.'
Until now, bereaved families could only check funeral service products for which the advance payments were secured through banks. For products secured through mutual aid associations, families had to verify each company individually, causing inconvenience.
With this measure, bereaved families can now check the subscription status of all funeral service products at once, regardless of whether the advance payments were secured through banks or mutual aid associations, by simply providing the deceased's name, date of birth, and phone number.
Bereaved families wishing to use the service can visit their nearest eup/myeon/dong community service center or apply for the 'Safe Inheritance One-Stop Service' on the Government24 website. The 'Heir Financial Transaction Inquiry Service' will be automatically applied together.
The government plans to enable checking of funeral service product subscriptions through the 'Integrated Information Provision Platform for Prepaid Installment Transactions' starting from the end of next year. A budget of 660 million KRW has been approved by the National Assembly for this purpose.

Meanwhile, the 'Safe Inheritance One-Stop Service' has been used by approximately 1.5 million people since its introduction in June 2015 until last year, and the 'Heir Financial Transaction Inquiry Service' has been used by about 2.25 million people since its launch in January 1999.
