During the weekly executive meeting he presided over that morning, Mayor Lee said, "The selection of candidate regions for the Global Innovation Zone in advanced bio fields and new drug development allows for most matters to be permitted except for those explicitly regulated by law, and there are many benefits when entering or expanding overseas," expressing his expectations.
The Ministry of SMEs and Startups announced on the 8th that Daejeon, Daegu, and Gyeongnam were selected as candidate regions following the public contest for Global Innovation Zones.
He also instructed the establishment of a more thorough response system for welfare projects for vulnerable groups and disaster safety during the winter season amid the current national instability.
Mayor Lee emphasized, "In this nationally unsettled situation, those suffering the most are the vulnerable and marginalized neighbors," adding, "Each department should take responsibility and meticulously ensure that livelihood support and welfare projects for these people proceed without any setbacks."
He continued, "Citizens are likely to have many concerns, so public officials should remain steadfast and ensure that ongoing projects proceed smoothly," and further requested, "With the current National Assembly budget situation being somewhat uncertain and many local government projects requiring increased funding concentrated nationwide, please respond thoroughly so that there are no setbacks."
Mayor Lee stated, "This month, several key issues are scheduled, such as the launch of Daejeon Investment Finance Co., Ltd., the groundbreaking ceremonies for Urban Railway Line 2 and Yuseong Terminal, and the Bomunsan Project," and added, "Make sure these initiatives proceed without any problems, manage national affairs as required, and ensure that there is not even the slightest error in pursuing our city’s key projects."
