Changwon Special City Enhances Traditional Market Competitiveness by Strengthening Merchant Capabilities
Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam held the '2024 Traditional Market Merchants Capacity Building Workshop' on the 3rd to strengthen the capabilities of merchants in traditional markets and shopping districts.

View original imageAbout 100 people attended the event, including Hong Nampyo, Mayor of Changwon Special City, provincial and city council members, Yoon Seokcheol, Head of the Changwon Center of the Small Enterprise and Market Service, and Yoon Jang-guk, Chairman of the Gyeongnam Branch.
At this workshop, commendations for contributions to the revitalization and modernization of traditional markets were awarded to the Myeonggok General Shopping Center and the Guam Market Merchants Association. Following this, special lectures were held to enhance merchants' competitiveness, including customer service training for traditional market merchants and an introduction to the Onnuri gift certificate program.
Additionally, after the training, a performance viewing and dinner were arranged to promote communication and harmony among merchants, providing them with an opportunity to share opinions and relieve stress.
Lee Heung-jin, Chairman of the Changwon Market Merchants Association, stated, "In the current triple hardship economic situation, I hope merchants can strengthen their capabilities through this workshop and overcome these difficult times."

In his encouragement speech, Hong Nampyo, Mayor of Changwon Special City, said, "To ensure that small business owners, the roots of the local economy, can operate with peace of mind, we are increasing the small business development fund from 30 billion won to 36 billion won, and promoting facility improvements such as fire safety equipment and public area maintenance, as well as installing cooling fog systems. We will do our best to support the growth of Changwon's traditional markets into nationally renowned attractions."
