The city of Guri, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Baek Kyung-hyun) announced on the 2nd that from the 27th to the 29th, completion ceremonies were held by region for the elderly who participated in the cognitive therapy program at the Galmae, Sutaek, and Inchang-dong Gieoknamu Rest Areas.

View original imageThe Gieoknamu Rest Area is a program operated twice a week for three hours a day over three months starting August 19, targeting elderly people with mild dementia. It provides cognitive, physical, and emotional support through various classes such as tone chimes, line dance, rattan craft, safe gardening, woodworking, calligraphy, and cooking practice.
An elderly participant in the program said, “I used to feel bored being alone at home, but by joining the rest area program, I made friends I could open my heart to and had a great time experiencing various activities I usually couldn’t do.”
Mayor Baek Kyung-hyun of Guri said, “Congratulations to the elderly who successfully completed the regional rest area programs. We will continue to operate more beneficial and enjoyable rest area programs to reduce the caregiving burden on families of dementia patients and help elderly dementia patients live their daily lives healthily and safely.”
