UNIST 285 Students in 50 Teams Showcase Achievements, Present Ulsan's Industrial Future

The ‘2024 UNIST Pioneers Festival’ showcasing students' creativity and spirit of challenge successfully concluded on November 29 at the Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology campus.
The event featured 285 students from 50 teams participating in the Undergraduate Interdisciplinary Research Project (UIRP) and the Artificial Intelligence Challenger Program (AICP), presenting the research achievements they had dedicated themselves to over the past year. Various learning support programs, including the AI-powered Learning Management System (LMS) and the MOOC platform (STAR-MOOC), were also introduced.
The festival served as a platform for UNIST student researchers to share their original ideas and research results, as well as to showcase innovative learning environments. Students widely promoted their accomplishments from the UIRP and AICP programs through poster presentations and physical exhibits.
About 700 internal and external visitors attended the event, showing great interest. Visitors expressed admiration for the students' passion and creativity, collectively stating, “Seeing students conducting such advanced technology research makes us look forward even more to the future of Ulsan’s industry.”
At the LMS booth, the system’s functions and directions for improvement were explained, while the STAR-MOOC booth provided information on how anyone, including Ulsan citizens, can take UNIST’s excellent courses for free.
The UNIST startup teams also received enthusiastic responses through one-on-one consultations with experts. Practical counseling to realize students’ startup ideas continued, further fueling the enthusiasm for entrepreneurship within the region.
Participatory events further elevated the festival’s atmosphere. Participants enjoyed various programs such as stamp tours, popular poster voting, and digital learning studio experiences. VR·AR experiences and media production spaces also attracted much attention.
