'Sound of Ruins Realized with Colored Threads' Solo Exhibition by Artist Moon Bori
'Memory, Algorithm, Signal: From Sound'
At Gallery LVS, Gangnam-gu until December 5
Artist Moon Bori, who weaves traditional threads such as samsil and mosisil to create abstract works, is holding a solo exhibition titled "Memory, Algorithm, Signal: From Sound" at Gallery LVS in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, until December 5.
Moon Bori graduated from the Department of Textile Arts at Hongik University and its graduate school, and majored in textile design at the graduate school of Philadelphia University in the United States. She has presented abstract works combining traditional woven threads with various materials.
Regarding this solo exhibition, the artist explained that she aimed to create an algorithm that visualizes invisible sounds based on the relationship between the weaving mechanism and computer algorithms.
In this exhibition, the artist presents luminous textile works made using optical fibers, an organic material that emits light, rough and natural Andong samsil, and soft, glossy rayon yarn.
The artist searched for forgotten spaces?places that were once busy and frequently used at some point in the past but are now closed, abandoned, or neglected for various reasons?feeling the flow of air and collecting the sounds of these spaces. She then digitized the collected sounds and represented them as colored lines based on a colormap designated by the artist.
