Police Conduct Special Crackdown on Club Drugs... Arrests and Seizures Double
The police have doubled the number of arrests as they conduct special crackdowns on narcotics in clubs and entertainment bars.
According to the National Police Agency on the 24th, the number of drug offenders arrested in September and October increased by 95.7% compared to the same period last year. The seized amounts of ketamine and ecstasy (MDMA) surged sixfold and doubled, respectively.
The police carried out several large-scale joint crackdowns. Especially in October, when Halloween took place, the metropolitan police agencies in Seoul, Daegu, and Busan conducted surprise on-site raids. During this process, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency's Narcotics Investigation Unit executed search warrants on operating entertainment bars and discovered narcotics hidden behind sofas.
