K-Standard Institute Designated as Executing Agency for K-Quantum International Cooperation Headquarters
The Korea Research Institute of Standards and Science (KRISS, President Ho-Sung Lee) announced on the 18th that it has been officially designated as the executing agency of the 'K-Quantum International Cooperation Headquarters,' the central hub for international cooperation in the field of quantum science and technology under the Ministry of Science and ICT.
The K-Quantum International Cooperation Headquarters serves as the main institution supporting international cooperation in quantum science and technology, focusing on three key directions: planning and promoting international joint research and development, establishing overseas cooperation systems, and building domestic cooperation systems. Its roles include ▲supporting the establishment and implementation of international cooperation policies ▲promoting international research and development programs ▲supporting industry-academia-research international cooperation activities and overseas expansion ▲collecting and analyzing local information and supporting Korean scientists abroad. The designation period is five years, from October 1, 2024, to December 31, 2028. The annual budget is approximately 1.5 billion KRW.
The K-Quantum International Cooperation Headquarters will act as the central hub overseeing the regional quantum science and technology cooperation centers currently operating in the United States and Europe, establishing a cooperative system between the headquarters and centers to activate international cooperation in quantum science and technology and expand global influence.
