Yangsan-si Conducts 'Visiting Cooking Class' Specialized Project and 'Family-Linked Photo Event'
Specialized Projects of the Child and Social Welfare Meal Management Support Center
The Yangsan City Children’s Social Welfare Meal Management Support Center in Gyeongnam conducted a specialized project called the ‘Visiting Cooking Class’ for children registered at the center in October, and held a home-linked photo event until November 10.
This specialized project was designed as an experiential program to help prevent picky eating and promote healthy eating habits among children. A total of 262 children were educated over 15 sessions, and 62 parents participated in the home-linked photo event, with plans to deliver participation gifts in November.
The cooking program included various engaging activities for children such as ▲learning about colorful vegetables and fruits (color food) ▲getting familiar with paprika ingredients (sensory play) ▲making mild paprika gochujang ▲making colorful cup rice, and after the education, a food-making event using paprika gochujang was held to connect the educational content to the home.
Officials from participating daycare centers said, “It was amazing to see children touching and tasting paprika, which they usually did not try to eat. Thank you very much for helping improve the children’s picky eating,” and “The sight of children making and eating colorful cup rice with their small hands was so lovely. We hope the cooking class will continue next year as well.”
