On the 14th, during an administrative audit of the Urban Housing Bureau by the Industrial Construction Committee, Park Juhwa, a member of the Daejeon City Council (People Power Party, Jung-gu 1), called for meticulous management to prevent an increase in unsold apartment units in Daejeon.
Park pointed out, "The number of unsold apartments in Daejeon soared from about 1,100 units as of August last year to 2,100 units as of September this year," adding, "The city should implement balanced policies to prevent housing supply from being concentrated in certain areas."
She continued, "Although development in Doan New Town is progressing actively, the polarization of real estate prices and apartment sales between the new town and the original downtown is intensifying," stressing that "extraordinary measures are needed to ensure balanced regional development."
Regarding the Jungangno Megacity (now J The Tower), which had remained an eyesore in the city center for 16 years, Park stated, "Resuming construction will be an important opportunity to ensure the safety of nearby residents and revitalize the local commercial district," and urged the district office to expedite the related procedures.
