Doosan Yeongang Foundation, 2024 Doosan Yeongang Environmental Academic Award Presentation
Total Prize Money of 40 Million Won Offered
Doosan Yeongang Foundation announced on the 6th that it held the '2024 Doosan Yeongang Environmental Academic Award' ceremony at the Korea Environmental Engineering Society conference held at Yeosu Expo Convention Center.
Professors Jeonghwan Kim of Inha University and Changsoo Lee of Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology, selected as awardees, were each presented with prize money of 30 million KRW and 10 million KRW, respectively, along with plaques.

View original imageProfessor Kim was recognized for his achievement in proposing an energy-producing wastewater treatment technology that recovers methane (CH4), the main component of natural gas, from sewage by applying membrane filtration technology. Professor Lee proposed a method to enhance performance and safety by utilizing magnetic iron ore particles during the process of converting organic wastewater containing organic matter into biogas.

The Doosan Yeongang Environmental Academic Award was established in 2019 as a continuation of the environmental safety research funding project conducted by the Doosan Yeongang Foundation for 25 years from 1993 to 2017. It has been continuously awarded to promote the development of environmental science in Korea and to encourage the research motivation of those working in the environmental field.
