LGU+ Holds ESG Fair at Yongsan Headquarters... Showcasing Activity Achievements
Held in the Lobby on the 1st Floor of Yongsan LG Uplus Building
Introduction of Achievements in Environmental, Social, and Governance Activities
LG Uplus announced on the 5th that it will hold the '2024 Uplus ESG Fair' from the 6th to the 8th at its Yongsan headquarters in Seoul to showcase its Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) management achievements.
At the event, LG Uplus will present its activities and achievements in the areas of Environment (E), Social (S), and Governance (G) through exhibits. The exhibits will be installed in the lobby on the first floor of the Yongsan headquarters.
In the environmental area, activities aimed at achieving the 2050 carbon neutrality goal will be displayed. In particular, the company highlighted the 1000 kW-class solar power facility at its Daejeon Research & Development (R&D) Center, which began operation in June this year. This facility replaces 11% of the Daejeon R&D Center’s annual electricity consumption with renewable energy. LG Uplus plans to expand the introduction of renewable energy to other offices and operational facilities, starting with the Daejeon Center.
In the social area, the company’s social contribution activities will be introduced. An outdoor park at the Yongsan headquarters features a battery charging vehicle and specialized relief spaces for children and pets, demonstrating LG Uplus’s disaster relief activities in times of emergency. Additionally, the educational program for underprivileged children, 'Uplus i Dream Challenge,' and the 'Uplus Hope Library' for the visually impaired will also be showcased.
In the governance area, achievements such as the telecommunications industry’s first sustainability disclosure and the operation of an ESG committee under the board of directors will be exhibited.
LG Uplus received an overall A (Excellent) grade in this year’s ESG evaluation announced by the Korea ESG Standards Institute.
All exhibits are made from eco-friendly materials and will be recycled after the event concludes.
Meanwhile, LG Uplus’s eco-friendly character 'ESG Muneo' will also be introduced at the venue. At the center of the event hall, a large heart-shaped sculpture engraved with the phrase "The size of the heart is more important than the amount" will be displayed. The sculpture bears the names of 3,258 employees who participated this year in economic support for socially vulnerable groups, housing environment improvements, and support for the independence of people with disabilities.
Visitors can experience a bingo game made up of ESG-related keywords by spinning the 'Muneo Cube' and can also receive eco-friendly prizes through ESG-related quizzes.
