Paju-si Conducts Nighttime Crackdown on Illegal Waste Incineration... Creating a Pleasant Living Environment
Gyeonggi Paju City (Mayor Kim Kyung-il) announced on the 1st that it has established a plan for intensive nighttime crackdowns on illegal waste incineration centered around Unjeong New Town and will carry out focused enforcement and prevention activities.
This initiative was prepared to eradicate illegal activities and create a pleasant environment in Paju City following an increase in complaints about burning odors at night mainly around Unjeong New Town.
The city plans to maximize enforcement effectiveness by conducting regular crackdowns at least once a week during nighttime hours, when enforcement is weak, through its own inspection team until February next year, in addition to occasional inspections.
If caught illegally incinerating waste, including agricultural by-products, a fine of up to 1 million KRW will be imposed according to the Waste Management Act, and in cases where waste is incinerated at business sites, criminal charges may be filed depending on the circumstances.
