Former Ministry of Economy and Finance Spokesperson Kim Sung-wook Appointed as IMF Director
The Ministry of Economy and Finance announced that former spokesperson Kim Seong-wook was appointed as a director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) as of the 1st.
Director Kim was appointed as a director of the World Bank Group last September and served his term until the 31st of last month. He will now represent the board that includes Korea, Australia, New Zealand, the Marshall Islands, and Micronesia for the next two years.
The Ministry stated, "With our country becoming a member of the board, it is expected that Korea's influence will be strengthened in the Board of Governors and the International Monetary and Financial Committee (IMFC), which consists of 25 member countries."

Director Kim has extensive experience and a broad network in the field of international finance, having served as the Ministry's Director General for International Economic Affairs, Director General of the International Finance Bureau, and Financial Counselor at the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in New York.
