Goyang City Holds Midterm Report Meeting for 'High-Precision Electronic Map Construction Challenge Project'
Establishing a Smart City Foundation Linked with Smart Administrative Services and 3D Urban Planning
Goyang Special City held the 'High-Precision Electronic Map Construction Challenge Project Midterm Report Meeting' on the 21st.
Goyang Special City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Lee Dong-hwan) announced on the 23rd that it successfully held a mid-term report meeting for the 'High-Precision Electronic Map Construction Challenge Project' on the 21st at the Baekseok Business Building, attended by Lee Jeong-hwa, the 2nd Deputy Mayor, along with related officials and experts.
The high-precision electronic map construction project is one of the national tasks for the efficient utilization of national spatial resources. It uses the latest technologies such as LiDAR (Light Detection And Ranging), vehicle MMS (Mobile Mapping System), and drone footage to build more precise and three-dimensional spatial information.
At this mid-term report meeting, the progress of the project so far and smart administrative services unique to Goyang Special City incorporating this technology were reported. In particular, the introduction of 3D urban planning simulations combined with virtual models (digital twins) attracted the attention of the attendees.
The project is scheduled to be completed by December. The city plans to accelerate efforts during the remaining period to establish a solid foundation for the Goyang hub-type smart city.

An official from the city stated, “Through this project, we will secure the latest 3D spatial information and continuously strive to provide innovative administrative services by linking it with various administrative tasks based on digital twins.”
