India Emerges as a Potential Market for Visits to Korea
Visitors from India Increase by 66% Compared to Last Year
The K-Tourism Roadshow was successfully held in India, a promising potential market for Korean tourism.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Tourism Organization announced on the 22nd that the K-Tourism Roadshow was held from the 18th to the 20th at locations including DLF Avenue Saket Mall in New Delhi, India. Approximately 70,000 Indian consumers visited the venue over the two-day event, demonstrating enthusiastic interest.

At the Travel Mart and Korea Tourism briefing held on the 18th at the Yasobumi IICC Exhibition Hall in New Delhi, Korean and Indian travel industry officials as well as key Indian government figures attended and conducted around 1,000 consultations.
Additionally, from the 19th to the 20th, the K-Tourism Roadshow was held under the slogan "Falling into Hallyu" at DLF Avenue Saket Mall, the largest shopping mall in New Delhi, drawing great crowds.
The event featured spaces where visitors could experience K-pop, K-dramas, and K-beauty including makeup, and a separate K-food pavilion was set up in collaboration with local branches of Nongshim, Lotte, and Orion, which gained significant popularity.

According to the Korea Tourism Organization, about 120,000 Indian tourists visited Korea by August this year, marking an increase of over 66% compared to the same period last year. This figure is more than 25% higher than in 2019, before the pandemic. The organization views India as a highly promising market and plans to focus promotional efforts there going forward.

Yoon Myung-gil, head of the Korea Tourism Organization's New Delhi office, said, "Since the pandemic, interest in K-culture among Indians has surged rapidly due to the influence of OTT platforms. Starting with this event targeting the MZ generation, who are very interested in K-culture, we will do our best to establish Korea as a travel destination."
