Busan Special Judicial Police Conduct Intensive Crackdown on Youth Harmful Businesses Ahead of Halloween and College Entrance Exam
From the 23rd to November 30th, Conducted Mainly in Downtown Shopping Districts and Academy Areas
The Busan Metropolitan Police Agency's Special Judicial Police Division will intensively crack down on illegal activities at youth-harmful establishments, focusing on downtown entertainment districts and areas around private academies where youth frequent, from the 23rd to November 30th, in preparation for Halloween and the College Scholastic Ability Test.
This crackdown targets youth-harmful establishments such as hold'em pubs that may promote gambling and addiction, room cafes restricting youth entry, electronic cigarette shops, sojubangs, and entertainment bars.
The main enforcement points include ▲ youth entry and employment at hold'em pubs where youth access and employment are prohibited ▲ youth entry at room cafes and other enclosed or sealed spaces ▲ sales of youth-harmful substances (alcohol and tobacco) ▲ failure to display restrictions on youth entry and employment at youth-harmful establishments.
If illegal activities are detected during this crackdown, strict measures will be taken against the violating establishments, including criminal charges and administrative actions by the relevant authorities.
▲ If an owner of a youth-harmful establishment employs youth, they face imprisonment of up to 3 years or a fine of up to 30 million KRW ▲ If an owner or employee of an establishment prohibiting youth entry or employment allows youth to enter, they face imprisonment of up to 2 years or a fine of up to 20 million KRW ▲ If youth-harmful substances (alcohol, tobacco, etc.) are sold to youth, the penalty is imprisonment of up to 2 years or a fine of up to 20 million KRW ▲ If an establishment fails to display restrictions on youth entry and employment, the penalty is imprisonment of up to 2 years or a fine of up to 20 million KRW.
The Special Judicial Police, operating as the Public Hygiene Investigation Team, is receiving citizen reports regarding violations of the Youth Protection Act.
