Yongsan-gu Opens ‘Yongmaru Children's Library’ Equipped with ‘Literacy-Specialized Bookshelves’

View original imageYongsan-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Park Hee-young) announced on the 10th that it held the opening ceremony of the ‘Yongmaru Children's Library’ on the 8th and has officially started its operation.
The Yongmaru Children's Library is located at 1, Hyochangwon-ro 37-gil (Yongmun-dong 38-191), with a total floor area of 524㎡ from the basement 1st floor to the 4th floor above ground, and a dedicated area of 317㎡. The interior is arranged as follows: ▲ Basement 1st floor - Children's digital experience and education space (71.3㎡), ▲ 1st floor - Office and lounge (17.8㎡), ▲ 2nd floor - Children's reading room (77.6㎡), ▲ 3rd floor - Book caf? and resting area (76.8㎡), ▲ 4th floor - Infant and toddler reading room (73.9㎡).
The Yongmaru Children's Library holds about 9,000 books and plans to offer various programs focused on improving children's literacy and developing creativity.
The ‘Literacy-specialized bookshelf’ carefully selects various types of books to enhance children's literacy. Additionally, the ‘Interactive storytelling program’ and the ‘Book-reading robot’ will provide children with the joy of listening to stories and communicating together.
The Yongmaru Children's Library operates from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekdays and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekends, and is closed every Monday and on legal holidays.

District Mayor Park Hee-young said, “It is more important and valuable than any other education for children to naturally encounter books and develop reading habits by playing in spaces with books from infancy.” He added, “We will continue to provide ample support and efforts for the residents and children who are the owners of the library.”
