Koo Ja-kyun "Let's Receive the $1 Billion Export Tower Next Time" Surprise Visit to the Promotion Hall
LS Elec Chairman Visits Exhibition Hall, Urges "Let's Not Be Complacent"
Encourages "Unprecedented Opportunity" at 50th Anniversary Event
On the 2nd, at the LS Group Tower in Yongsan, Seoul, Chairman and CEO Koo Ja-kyun appeared unexpectedly at the LS Electric PR exhibition hall on the 11th floor. This was a site inspection conducted immediately after the LS Electric 50th anniversary event on the 30th of last month.
According to company officials on the 4th, what Chairman Koo carefully examined in the exhibition hall was the trophy display stand for the 'Tower of Trade.' Four trophies are placed at regular intervals on this stand. LS Electric received export towers for $200 million in 2005, $300 million in 2007, and $500 million in 2013, and at last year's 60th Trade Day event, it was awarded the $700 million export tower. The export tower is an award given to companies that have recorded exports exceeding $1 million and have broken their previous export records. The performance is based on export results from July 1 of the current year to June 30 of the following year.
At this spot, Chairman Koo instructed to narrow the spacing between the export towers and create a 'new space.' This was a message encouraging the next goal of $1 billion in exports, following the $700 million export tower award.
LS Electric recorded an operating profit of 109.6 billion KRW in the second quarter due to a surge in power demand, marking the highest quarterly performance in its history. At the company's 50th anniversary ceremony on the 30th of last month, it unveiled the integrated brand 'Beyond X.' At this event, Chairman Koo also evaluated the recent boom by saying, "We have encountered the greatest and best opportunity in the past 50 years."
LS Electric is expanding its growth engine centered on the U.S. market. Last year, it purchased 46,000 square meters of land and auxiliary facilities in Bastrop, Texas. This is a strategic investment to supply power equipment to the semiconductor foundry new plant that Samsung Electronics is building in Taylor, following Austin. Previously, LS Electric signed a contract worth approximately 174.6 billion KRW to supply and maintain the distribution system at Samsung Electronics' Taylor plant. Additionally, last year, it also signed a contract to supply power equipment to the Hyundai Motor-LG Energy Solution joint battery plant (JV) located in Georgia, USA.
