Two Teams Receive Excellence Awards at the Busan-Ulsan-Gyeongnam ICT Innovation Challenge
Dong-A University (President Lee Haewoo) announced that students from the Department of Computer and AI Engineering have achieved remarkable success by winning multiple awards at a competition hosted by the National IT Industry Promotion Agency (NIPA).
Dong-A University students swept the 1st to 3rd place awards, including the Grand Prize, Excellence Award, and Merit Award, at the recently held '5th Digital New Technology Idea Competition.'

View original imageAt this competition, the team 'VPP,' consisting of Kim Jaekyung (2nd year, Computer Engineering), Koo Haeyoon (4th year, Computer Engineering), Kim Jiseon (4th year, AI), and Kim Daero (2nd year Master's, Computer Engineering), won the Grand Prize with their project, "Reliability-Based Power Generation Prediction Correction Module for Effective Virtual Power Plant Operation."
This project received high praise as a reliability-based predicted power generation correction module, offering an idea that could promote the construction of a sustainable and stable power grid and the growth of the virtual power plant market.
The 'CTS' team (4th year, Computer Engineering: Lim Gagyeom, Kwon Taein, Choi Beomgyu, Lee Seongbeom; 4th year Master's, Computer Engineering) won the Excellence Award for their "Silver Learn: A YouTube Lecture-Based Learning Management Platform to Enhance Digital Literacy for the Elderly," while the 'No White' team (3rd year, AI: Yoo Gaeun, Shin Sungjun) received the Merit Award for their "Smart Cigarette Butt Collection Box Incorporating AI Technology."
Kim Jaekyung, leader of the Grand Prize-winning 'VPP' team, said, "I am satisfied with the results we achieved after working hard with my teammates for a long time. Through the Digital New Technology Idea Competition, I had a great opportunity to apply new technologies to real-world issues."
The Department of Computer and AI Engineering at Dong-A University also produced the highest number of awardees at the '2024 Busan-Ulsan-Gyeongnam ICT Innovation Challenge,' the largest competition in the region for aspiring and early-stage entrepreneurs from Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam, with two teams winning the Merit Award.

Park Junghyun, a master's student, shared, "I am satisfied that I was able to achieve good results by investing a lot of time during the vacation period," and added, "I want to grow into a core talent in cloud middleware who can contribute to a revolutionary reduction in carbon emissions generated by the cloud."
