Gangdong-gu Secures 4 Billion KRW Special Grant... To Be Used for Creating Waterfront Vitality Hub at Godeokcheon
Gangdong-gu, Seoul (Mayor Lee Su-hee) announced on the 19th that it has secured 4.06 billion KRW in Seoul Special Adjustment Grants (Special Grants), giving momentum to the promotion of local pending projects.
The district plans to allocate this budget to the following projects: "Amsa History Park Station Area Aesthetic Improvement Project (800 million KRW)," "Godeokcheon Riverside Vitalization Hub Construction (2 billion KRW)," "Replacement of Large Street Trees in Seongnae-dong (510 million KRW)," and "Support for Stormwater Pump Station and Sewer Box Dredging to Prepare for Flood Damage (750 million KRW)."
Considering the expected increase in visitors using Amsa History Park Station on Subway Line 8 following the opening of Amsa History Park and Amsa Green Road, the district plans to focus on creating a pleasant streetscape around the station area. Accordingly, idle spaces along the streets near the station, cultivated land, and greenhouses within the development restriction zone will be renovated, and landscape facilities will be installed.
Additionally, the district will inject 2 billion KRW of the special grant into the ongoing first phase of the Godeokcheon Riverside Vitalization Hub project to accelerate construction. An access road to the lower reaches of Godeokcheon, adjacent to the Han River and large-scale development complexes (Godeok Gangil Public Housing District 1, Godeok Biz Valley), will be opened, and a specialized hub will be created to improve the environment so that Godeokcheon can become a cultural and daily relaxation space for residents.
Furthermore, to create a safe walking environment, the district will use the special grant to replace hazardous street trees on Seongan-ro and Cheonho Old Road in Seongnae-dong, and to remove sediment from stormwater pump stations and sewer boxes to prevent flood damage caused by heavy rain.
