Shin Paldang Bridge Ramp Bridge, Girder Installation Completed Except for Transmission Tower Relocation Section
Completion Expected to Improve Traffic Congestion on National Route 6 between Paldang Bridge and Namyangju Section
Namyangju City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Joo Gwang-deok) announced on the 13th that the construction of the new Sinpaldang Bridge and the expansion of National Route 6 (Sinpaldang Bridge to Dogok IC) to six lanes is progressing normally, aiming for completion in the second half of 2026.
This project, managed by the Seoul Regional Land Management Office of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, involves expanding a 3.44 km section of National Route 6 from the existing four lanes (two lanes each way) to six lanes, and constructing the new Sinpaldang Bridge (1.63 km) with two lanes each way.
The project was initiated to resolve severe traffic congestion near Paldang Bridge during weekends and holiday seasons. It was included in the 4th Five-Year Plan for National and Local Roads in August 2016, underwent detailed design in December 2017, and construction began in October 2019.
Currently, the construction progress rate is 67%. The girder installation for the Sinpaldang Bridge ramp, except for the section involving the relocation of transmission towers, has been completed across the entire span. Starting in October, girders will be installed on the piers crossing the Han River.
Upon completion, it is expected that traffic congestion on the frequently congested sections of Paldang Bridge and the Namyangju section of National Route 6 will be significantly alleviated.
