Korea University Declares Internationalized Campus... "Stepping Up as a Foreign-Friendly Campus"
Korea University held a ceremony to declare its internationalized campus and announced its vision for a foreigner-friendly campus. The university plans to implement bilingual English notation across all administrative areas and establish systems that allow foreign students and faculty to easily access research, education, and administrative information.
Korea University, which introduced the English portal system (KUPID) for the first time among domestic universities in 2007, has fully implemented English-based administration following the declaration ceremony held on the 10th. From now on, not only the portal but also online notices and guides will be presented bilingually in Korean and English. Offline materials such as campus signs and information boards will also be redesigned to enable foreigners to easily understand the content.
To this end, Korea University conducted translation training using generative artificial intelligence (AI) tools such as ChatGPT and DeepL four times in July for faculty and staff. Additionally, policies to realize the values of Diversity and Inclusion have been prepared. To encourage participation from foreign students who had been marginalized in extracurricular activities, the university communicated with student organizations such as the Student Council and the Club Federation to produce and distribute an English booklet introducing clubs.
