'Ordinance for Securing Electromagnetic Wave Safe Residential Areas' Passed at Incheon City Council Plenary Session
A regulatory foundation has been established to secure residential areas safe from electromagnetic waves for Incheon citizens.
On the 9th, the Incheon City Council announced that the 'Partial Amendment to the Incheon City Urban Planning Ordinance,' primarily proposed by Park Jong-hyeok (Minju Party, Bupyeong 6), a member of the Construction and Transportation Committee, passed the 2nd plenary session of the 297th extraordinary meeting held on the 6th.
The amendment excludes data centers classified under item 24 of 'Broadcasting and Communication Facilities' in Appendix 1 of the Enforcement Decree of the Building Act from being constructed in Type 1, 2, and 3 general residential areas. Additionally, when installing data centers within 1 km from the boundary of residential areas in exclusive industrial zones and general industrial zones, the permitting authority must review the installation of the facility through the urban planning committee of the relevant district or county.

He added, "Especially in the Bupyeong area, where electromagnetic waves, high-voltage underground cables, and the depth of underground wiring have continuously been issues causing significant public anxiety, we will strive to resolve these concerns."
