President Yoon: "Early Payment of Basic Livelihood Security Benefits to Recipients Before Chuseok"
"To Alleviate Difficulties of Vulnerable Groups"
The government has decided to advance the payment of livelihood benefits to 1.67 million basic livelihood security recipients before Chuseok, following President Yoon Seok-yeol's directive.
On the 5th, President Yoon instructed the Minister of Health and Welfare to "advance the payment of livelihood benefits to basic livelihood security recipients, who are vulnerable members of our society, before the Chuseok holiday," according to a written briefing by Presidential Office spokesperson Jeong Hye-jeon.
The Presidential Office explained, "Today's directive was made to alleviate the difficulties of vulnerable groups, considering the increased consumer spending on essential goods ahead of Chuseok."
Accordingly, the government will advance the payment of the livelihood benefits, which amount to about 760 billion won and are usually paid on the 20th of each month, to this month.
