Controversy Over US Democratic Vice Presidential Candidate's Brother Saying "My Sibling Is Not Someone to Trust with the Future"
The brother of Tim Walz, the Democratic vice-presidential candidate and governor of Minnesota, sparked controversy by posting a critical message about Walz on his social media account.
On the 3rd (local time), according to political media The Hill and tabloid New York Post, Walz's brother Jeff wrote on Facebook on the 30th of last month that Walz is "not the kind of person you would want to entrust decisions about your future to."

He also said he had long considered publicly supporting former President Donald Trump and stated, "I am 100% opposed to all of his (Tim Walz's) ideologies."
He mentioned that he had not spoken to his brother for eight years and was displeased to learn through the radio, rather than directly from Walz, that he had become the Democratic vice-presidential candidate.
After the post caused controversy, he clarified in an interview with NewsNation that he only wanted to make clear that he disagreed with his brother's policies and had no intention of influencing voters' choices or interfering with his brother's campaign. He also said he would no longer issue statements or conduct support or opposition campaigns.

Jeff is registered as a Republican and reportedly donated $20 to former President Trump's 2016 presidential campaign. There are no records of donations to his brother. On March 30th last year, when Trump was indicted on charges related to hush money for a sexual misconduct scandal, Jeff posted on Facebook, "We have just become a third-world banana republic."
