Gas Safety Corporation Seeks Cooperation with Gas Appliance Certification Bodies in Australia, Japan, and Three Other Countries
The Korea Gas Safety Corporation announced on the 29th that it held the '13th Gas Appliance Certification Bodies Meeting (GACM) in the Western Pacific Region' at the Royal Hotel Seoul. Approximately 70 participants attended the meeting, including gas appliance testing and certification bodies from five countries?Korea, Australia, Japan, China, and Taiwan?as well as representatives from 13 hydrogen and gas appliance companies.
Established in 1996, GACM is a safety council composed of gas appliance certification bodies from five Western Pacific countries. For the past 30 years, it has cooperated in gas appliance certification and safety information exchange, international standard joint collaboration, and the development and trade activation of related industries. The Korea Gas Safety Corporation was elected as the next chair organization at the 12th GACM plenary session in 2022.

The meeting featured presentations by gas appliance testing and certification bodies and domestic companies, followed by business meetings between overseas certification bodies and the gas industry to expand export opportunities for domestic companies. In his welcoming remarks, Park Kyung-guk, President of the Korea Gas Safety Corporation, said, "As we enter an era of energy transition to respond to climate change, our gas appliance industry is also at an important turning point. Therefore, cooperation between gas appliance testing and certification bodies, as well as between certification bodies and related industries, must be further strengthened. Through the cooperation and efforts of gas appliance testing and certification bodies, I hope companies can pursue innovation while complying with regulations, thereby enhancing both consumer safety and global market competitiveness."
