Launch of the 'Quantum Frontier Strategy Council,' the Starting Point of Quantum Development
23 Experts from Academia, Industry, and Research Participate... "A Platform for Public-Private Communication in the Quantum Field"
The 'Quantum Frontier Strategy Council,' a public-private communication channel in the quantum field, held its first meeting on the 29th at EL Tower in Seocho-gu, Seoul.
According to the Ministry of Science and ICT, the council included 23 members representing academia, research, and industry in various fields such as quantum computing, quantum communication, and quantum sensors. Among them were Sangwook Han, Head of the Quantum Technology Division at the Korea Institute of Science and Technology (KIST); Seonghyuk Kim, Senior Research Fellow at LG Electronics Artificial Intelligence Research Center; and Eunseong Kim, Professor at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST). The secretary was Seungwook Baek, Director of the Quantum National Technology Strategy Center at the Korea Research Institute of Standards and Science.
The council is scheduled to operate alongside the Quantum Strategy Committee, a top-level policy deliberation and decision-making body in the quantum field chaired by the Prime Minister, which will be newly established when the "Act on the Promotion of Quantum Science and Technology and Industry" is enforced in November this year.
At the meeting, presentations were made on the latest technologies and industry trends in the quantum field, future council operation plans, and the current status of major quantum policy initiatives.

Chosunhak, Head of the Quantum Science and Technology Industry Division, stated, "With key policies and projects such as the Quantum Science and Technology Industry Act and the Quantum Science and Technology Flagship Project set to be implemented from the end of this year to next year, close public-private communication and cooperation are crucial in establishing future policy directions and strategies."
