DB Insurance Strengthens Coverage for 'Petbly Dog and Cat Insurance'
Additional Discounts for Families with Multiple Children and Adoption of Abandoned Animals
DB Insurance announced on the 27th that it has revised its ‘Petbly Dog and Cat Insurance’ product to expand coverage for common pet diseases such as skin conditions and dental diseases.
Pet insurance primarily covers actual medical expenses incurred at veterinary hospitals, similar to human indemnity medical expense products. It also provides coverage for liability caused by pets and consolation payments in the event of a pet’s death.
In July last year, DB Insurance developed a special rider for expanded coverage of MRI and CT scans to cover regular and equipment inspection costs, which account for the largest portion of medical expenses in the Petbly Dog and Cat Insurance. With this revision, dental treatments and specific skin medication treatments such as Apoquel, which were previously excluded, can now be compensated if the special rider is purchased. Notably, coverage for specific skin medication treatments like Apoquel has no annual limit on the number of claims, broadening the scope of protection for policyholders.
A new discount system has also been applied with this revision. A 5% discount for multiple pets and a 3% discount for adopting abandoned animals have been added, allowing policyholders to receive up to a 10% discount on insurance premiums when combined with the existing 2% discount for submitting an animal registration certificate.
A DB Insurance official stated, “We will continue to strive to foster a mature pet care culture and to expand practical coverage for pets.”
