Cheonan City Selected for 'Regional Characteristics Promotion Project'
Establishment of New Key Facilities to Revitalize Oryong District
Cheonan City, Chungnam, has been finally selected for the "Regional Characteristics Enhancement Contest" hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.
View original imageCheonan City in Chungnam Province has been finally selected for the “Regional Characterization Project” hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.
The “Regional Characterization Project” is a mid- to long-term specialization support program that aims to enhance each region’s unique appeal and self-sustainability by utilizing local resources, thereby strengthening competitiveness. A total of 69 local governments competed, and 10, including Cheonan City, were ultimately selected.
Through this project, Cheonan City plans to create new hub facilities to revitalize the Oryong District and expand specialized infrastructure within the region to boost the local economy and increase the inflow of daily population.
Additionally, the city aims to enhance the vitality of the local economy by creating unique cultural attractions and landmarks, and by linking the project with mid- to long-term plans and other ministries’ initiatives.
A city official said, “We will renovate neglected spaces into hub facilities that activate consumption and stay, and build specialized infrastructure so that visitors and residents can directly experience it, effectively realizing the unique characteristics of the region.”
