Lee Jae-myung and Cho Kuk Reaffirm Consensus on 'Anti-Party' Offensive... Also Demand Easing of Negotiation Group Rules
Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, and Cho Guk, leader of the Cho Guk Innovation Party, reaffirmed their consensus on the aggressive stance toward the opposition, including the swift passage of the special prosecutor law for Chae Sang-byeong, on the 21st.
On that day, during a visit by Lee to Cho for a congratulatory greeting on his reappointment as party leader, Lee said, "The relationship between the two parties is one of cooperative competition as well as competitive cooperation."
In response, Cho said, "The urgent issues are the early end of the Yoon Seok-youl administration, the recovery of the livelihood situation that is on the brink of collapse, and regime change," adding, "I ask Leader Lee to take the lead and play the role of problem solver for these three tasks."
Regarding the Chae Sang-byeong special prosecutor law, Cho said, "Han Dong-hoon, leader of the People Power Party, said he would appoint a 'third-party recommended' special prosecutor, but when the Democratic Party agreed to that proposal, he added additional conditions, showing a zigzag approach," and added, "Since I think we can accept the 'third-party recommendation' to break the deadlock, I ask Leader Lee to demonstrate negotiation skills."
To this, Lee replied, "Politics is not about imposing one's own claims alone, so I will seek a compromise plan."
