Handonghun "Welcomes Democratic Party's Acceptance of Third-Party Special Prosecutor Law... Unsure of Its Authenticity"
"Need for Special Prosecutor Recommended by Chief Justice Remains"
"Will Talk About Livelihood with Representative Lee Jae-myung"
Han Dong-hoon, leader of the People Power Party, said, "I welcome the very suggestion," when the opposition party hinted at the possibility of accepting the 'Third-Party Recommended Special Prosecutor Act' he proposed, adding, "There may be various thoughts about its authenticity." He expressed suspicion about the opposition party seemingly accepting the third-party recommendation method for the special prosecutor law while presenting a more strengthened version of the law.

He added, "They said they could accept the special prosecutor bill I proposed for the Chief Justice's recommendation," and pointed out, "They unexpectedly set a deadline of ten days, which does not align with their own position."
Han said, "Today, I also saw that Lee Eon-ju, a Supreme Council member of the Democratic Party, said in a meeting that the special prosecutor recommended by the Chief Justice is absolutely unacceptable, and I do not understand the intention behind that." He continued, "Nevertheless, (People Power Party) said they will continue internal discussions and are still listening to opinions on that matter."
Han explained, "Originally, the special prosecutor is supposed to conduct investigations after the High-ranking Officials' Crime Investigation Office or the prosecution completes their investigation and reports the results," adding, "However, this issue concerns veterans and national security, which we conservatives should prioritize more, and there was a perception among the public that there was a delay in the process. Therefore, we proposed a special prosecutor excluding the toxic clause where the Chief Justice selects the prosecutor as an alternative." He emphasized, "I still believe that is necessary."

When asked what agenda he would discuss if he met with Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party, Han replied, "Both of us will now talk about people's livelihood, and we must talk about people's livelihood," adding, "We are united in the belief that we must find answers in people's livelihood. Ultimately, it is time to resolve the stalled policies on people's livelihood that have been caught up in the repeated processes of impeachment and special prosecutors."
