"Seeking Talented Aspiring Singers"... Daegu Youth Song Festival, Grand Prize of 10 Million Won
Daegu City will be recruiting participants for the Daegu Youth Song Festival from the 19th until September 6.
The Daegu Youth Song Festival, held for the first time this year as a national competition, aims to discover new young talent by providing a stage for youth to showcase their skills and talents, while also enhancing Daegu's image as a city of vibrant youth culture.
Eligible participants are individuals or teams aged 15 to 39 from across the country who have never released an album or digital single. They must prepare a song that expresses their unique musical style and talent. After passing the first and second preliminary rounds, they will advance to the final stage.
The first preliminary round will be conducted online. Participants must submit a video via the QR code on the poster or the designated address by September 6. Based on these videos, 24 teams will be selected. The second preliminary round will be an in-person audition at Dreaming Theater in the region, where judges will evaluate the teams' live performances and select 12 finalists.
The final stage will take place on October 13 at the main stage of Dongseongno Art Square in downtown Daegu, with a special performance by the singer Flower also scheduled.
The festival will be held in conjunction with Daegu Youth Week, featuring a variety of events such as a performance by the singer BewhY, youth artist performances, booth experiences, and national youth exchanges to further boost participation.
The judging panel will consist of six members, including active singers, composers, and music professors. The evaluation will be based on vocal ability, originality, audience response, and other criteria, with seven teams ultimately being selected.
The grand prize winner will receive 10 million KRW, the top excellence award 4 million KRW, the excellence award 2 million KRW, and two teams each will receive 500,000 KRW for the encouragement and popularity awards. In addition to the prize money, the grand prize winner will have the opportunity to debut as a new artist with a custom-composed song produced and released as a digital single by a composer.
Park Yunhee, Director of Youth and Women’s Education at Daegu City, stated, "We will ensure that the Daegu Youth Song Festival becomes a gateway for young people across the country, as well as in the region, to nurture and realize their dreams of becoming popular artists. We also hope it becomes a festival where citizens can enjoy and support high-quality performances."
