Changwon Special City to Hold Navy Band Performance on Liberation Day to Commemorate Victory in the Masan Defense Battle
Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam announced that it will host a Navy band invitational performance at 7:30 PM on the 15th at the outdoor stage of 3.15 Haeyangnuri Park, commemorating the 79th anniversary of Liberation and the victory in the Masan Defense Battle.
This event is organized to commemorate the 79th anniversary of Liberation and the decisive victory in the Masan Defense Battle in August, which protected the Republic of Korea, as well as to console the citizens of the Masan area who have been affected by the closure of Lotte Department Store.
Hosted by the city and organized by the Masanhappo and Member District Veterans Associations of Changwon, the event will feature a Navy percussion performance, performances by the Navy Education Command and Jinhae Naval Base Command military bands, and local singer performances.
Park Dongjin, Director of Culture, Tourism and Sports, said, "This is a meaningful event where you can enjoy the Navy band performance while paying tribute to the patriotic martyrs and national heroes, and we ask for the active interest of our citizens."
Meanwhile, the Masan Defense Battle was a 45-day battle between South Korea-US allied forces and the North Korean army in the Masan area from August 1 to September 14, 1950. It was a 'decisive victory' that blocked the North Korean army's attempt to advance to the provisional capital of Busan and enabled the Incheon Landing Operation, saving the Republic of Korea.
