On the 12th, Krafton announced that it will recruit the development personnel of the Japanese game company 'Tango Gameworks,' which was a subsidiary of Microsoft (MS) but closed down.

Tango Gameworks, established in 2010 in Japan, developed rhythm action game Hi-Fi Rush, survival horror The Evil Within, and action-adventure Ghostwire: Tokyo.

In particular, the rhythm action game Hi-Fi Rush gained great popularity in the global game market and received an 'Overwhelmingly Positive' rating on the global distribution platform Steam. It also won awards such as The Game Awards 2023 'Best Audio Design,' the 24th Game Developers Conference 'Best Audio Award,' and the 20th BAFTA 'Best Animation Award.'

Tango Gameworks was acquired by MS in 2021 but closed in May due to continued poor market conditions. Krafton highly valued Tango Gameworks' passion and potential for game development and decided to absorb the development personnel into Krafton Japan. The recruitment scale is about 50 people. Krafton also plans to acquire the Hi-Fi Rush IP (intellectual property) through future consultations with MS.

The developers who have taken a new nest at Krafton will start new projects, including the development of the next Hi-Fi Rush installment. MS has also agreed to support them to continue their challenges at Krafton.

A Krafton official said, "This recruitment decision will be the first signal of Krafton's entry into the Japanese market," adding, "We will continue to strive to find creative talent with attractive gameplay."
